I got to spend a large portion of the day today with Big Jay, which, although pleasant, wasn't exactly a venue that either of us normally would choose. We spent several hours in one of the local H1N1 clinics. I debated most of the day whether or not I should take him, but I ended up being able to leave work a bit early and pick him up before it started so we could get our place in line. Luckily, the guy a couple spots up in line was A GENIUS and brought a portable DVD player for his son... Big Jay kind of tagged along their stroller for most of the wait. That made things much easier.
Yes, he got a shot before their supply ran out. And yes, we spent about three hours there. In line. Among other 6 month to 4 year olds and pregnant women. It was definitely as exciting as it sounds.
Why didn't I take Little Jae? Well, timing was a large part of that, since I wanted to make sure that we got there before they shut it down. But also, since she isn't in daycare and is also not asthmatic like her brother, I'm just not as concerned about her at the moment. She is a very healthy little girl... while I do plan on getting her vaccinated as soon as our doctor has them available, I don't feel like it was as necessary for her so soon.
Anyway. I feel good that I was able to do it today - it's a bit of a weight lifted, especially after whatever it was that he had last week.
Beyond that, things are about normal around here... I have a big weekend coming up at work this weekend. Actually, today marks Day 2 of 12-14 days straight of working. I'll be working an offshift as well, beginning Friday, so it will definitely cause a bit of an adjustment around here. I'm kind of excited to see some payoff this next couple of weeks for all of the hard work that I have put in, though, not to mention the rest of my team.
That is really all I have at this particular moment.. I hope you all are well.
